Will the curse of the goat strike the Chicago Cubs again? I'm not so sure about that, but with what happened in '03, you have to wonder.
The Cubs need their Ace, Carlos Zambrano, to pitch like he is capable of pitching. Zambrano must maintain his composure if the Cubs are going to have a chance to win tonight. They have a solid bullpen, and a decent lineup. Cubs fans are still waiting for this team to hit for power though. They are 11th in the NL in homeruns. Derek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, and Alfonso Soriano have all had down years offensively. The time to turn it on has definately arrived.
The Arizone Diamondbacks have an extremely effective pitcher in Brandon Webb heading to the mound today. Webb is 18-10 with a minuscule 3.01 ERA, second only to San Diego's Jake Peavy. He is a workhorse, pitching more innings than anyone in the NL. However, the DBacks lineup is meek. They have put less runs on the board than 13 of the 16 NL clubs. They are batting a pathetic .250.
Look for a low scoring game tonight. The DBacks can't hit their way out of a wet paper bag, and the Cubs will be facing a top notch pitcher in Brandon Webb
